Is This The Blueprint To Losing 68 Pounds? Woman claims these two things helped her go from 210 lbs. to 142 lbs. Will they work for you?

12 Apr

It might be because of what we see on television, the Internet, or magazines but it seems like almost everyone wants to lose weight. Some just want to drop a few unwanted pounds while others need to lose a whole heck of a lot more. For that reason, weight loss is estimated to be a $60 billion industry. When there is that much money involved, you know it will attract con artists and scammers who want to sell you the next magic pill, exotic diet, or whiz bang gadget that will make the pounds fall right off your body. Some of their approaches may work, but doesn’t it seem like within a couple years, the same people are pitching the next miracle doo-dad? What happened to the last one?

Believe it or not, there is a proven and effective way to lose all the weight your heart desires. It is 100% free, and this story tells it all.

It’s the story of a young woman named Dawn who is married to Steve, a soldier deployed in Afghanistan.

Dawn gained 55 pounds while pregnant with their first child, though she readily admits that she had started gaining weight long before that. She was still surprised when her doctor told her she weighed over 200 lbs.

Six weeks after their son was born, Dawn weighed 210 pounds. Then, Steve left for Afghanistan. On Facebook, Dawn wrote, “At the time, I still weighed 210 pounds. I grew to hate mirrors, and my attempts to squeeze myself into my old clothes left me feeling defeated. One day, not long after Steve had left, I decided I was done feeling bad about myself. I wanted a healthy body again, so I had to get to work.

“I started a strict exercise routine and committed to two daily workouts, including a bootcamp class and 45 minutes spent on the treadmill. I cut out fast food for 11 months without cheating and never skipped a workout. My husband was in awe of my commitment. While he’s deployed, we rely on Facebook to communicate, and I sent him updates from home, pictures of our son, and messages about my progress in the gym. I was getting stronger every day, and I loved that he got to cheer me on from overseas.”

When Steve came home just before their son’s first birthday, Dawn weighed 142 lbs. (less than she weighed when they first met)!

So, what is the “blueprint?” The blueprint is simple: Commitment and hard work. Dawn said, “It wasn’t easy. There is no magic pill for good health…”

Making that acknowledgment and accepting that statement as fact is the first step in losing any amount of weight you want and living a much healthier life.

Yes, losing weight is NOT complicated. In fact, it is quite simple, but simple doesn’t not mean “magic” or “overnight” or “no work” or “take this pill and wake up skinny while eating ice cream and sitting on the couch.”

All those statements are tactics used by marketers trying to get their share of the $60 billion weight loss industry. Listen to Dawn. Make the commitment, eat right, and do the work… for the rest of your life. Forget about those magical fat burners.

Man Celebrates 65th Birthday By “Paying It Forward.”

8 Apr

If you have seen the movie Pay It Forward, you have an idea what we are talking about. If not, it doesn’t matter because the concept of “Paying it Forward” is much, much, much older than the movie that made it popular.

The concept can be dated back to 1841 when Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, “In the order of nature, we cannot render benefits to those from whom we receive them, or only seldom. But the benefit we receive must be rendered again, line for line, deed for deed, cent for cent, to somebody.”

In 1916, Lily Hardy Hammond wrote, “You don’t pay love back; you pay it forward.”

In a nutshell, pay it forward is asking the beneficiary of a good deed to repay it to others instead of to the original benefactor. In other words, passing on the good to the rest of the world, especially those who may not be in a position to pay YOU back or give ANYTHING to you in return.

That’s exactly what Doug Eaton decided to do for his 65th birthday. As the story goes, he turned 65 on June 11, 2012. He was looking for something to do, so he asked his friends on Facebook what he should do. He got a whole bunch of suggestions. Some were good. Some were bad. Many were ridiculous. One was brilliant.

That suggestion was, “Why don’t you do 65 random acts of kindness?” Eaton immediately knew that was the winner.

According to Yahoo: [Eaton spent] 65 minutes standing on the corner of NW 39th Street and May Avenue in Oklahoma City, handing out $5 bills to people who passed by. He told his Facebook friends that he handed out more than $375, but the response – and the amount of good cheer he shared – was priceless. From a distance, Eaton looked a bit like any other panhandler holding a sign at a street corner, but instead of a plea for money, his sign read: “I have a home… and a car… and a job. Do you need a few bucks for some coffee?”

As you can imagine, people who drove by were shocked. Some just drove by shaking their heads. Others told him, “God bless you.” Many did not want to take his money.

Eaton posted on Facebook, “One obviously needy truck holding a family came around the second time after misunderstanding the first time to give ME $2 just to bless ME for what I was doing. I took their money AND gave them a $5. We kind of traded blessings.”

A lot of people told him to give theirs to someone else.

But, Eaton did not invent this birthday act of kindness idea. In 2010, Robyn Bomar turned 38 by doing 38 random acts of kindness. Bomar wrote on her blog, “I planned out 38 things ahead of time, just in case, but really was praying for opportunities to present themselves throughout the day. My husband, three daughters, and my husband’s parents joined me in the most favorite birthday of my life!”

That day changed Bomar’s life and she started a website with an online community of people who celebrate their birthdays by paying it forward. The website is http://www.thebdayproject.com. Now you know what to do for your next birthday!

She Is A Freshman, Fourth In Her Class, and The Best Pole Vaulter In School History. Why She Has Her “Sight” Set On Inspiring Other People…

2 Apr

If you watched her at a track meet, you would see three things: power, grace, and beauty. While only a Freshman, Charlotte Brown is an academic star, and she has cleared heights in the pole vault that no female at Rains High School in Emory, Texas ever has.

“I’d definitely consider myself very competitive. And I think a lot of that comes from my older brothers. They are never giving me a break.” Competitive she is. When talking about her first track coach, Charlotte said, “Our coach was pretty harsh. He was like…there’s no excuses…you are going to run and you are going to be good at it… and you are gonna like it, and if you don’t, you can leave.”

What Charlotte said next summed up the real secret to her success: “It’s easier to run hard than to have to think about an excuse.”

What’s incredible is that Charlotte would not have to think very hard to come up with an excuse because she is legally blind.

When describing her sight, she said, “When I look out right now, I see a pin dot of white, which I guess is the grass. And it’s blurry… kinda like looking through a coffee stirrer.”

Running is not the only thing Charlotte never makes excuses about. She doesn’t make excuses about carrying extra large text books, or that she has to use a talking calculator, or use a magnifier to make the pages of her books and any paper work huge so she can barely read it.

Her mental toughness comes from her parents who say it’s her job to recognize and overcome problems. The phrase “no excuses” has been the family motto right from the beginning.

Charlotte’s mother said, “One of the first conversations we ever had with Charlotte [was] when she was about three. We told her at that time, everyone struggles with something in their life. Everyone has something in their life that they have to overcome in this world, and her vision was going to be her something, and she might as well figure it out and move on. And… she did.”

Charlotte was born with natural vision, but quickly developed infant cataracts. Her sight went back and forth between good and bad until sixth grade when she lost most of her sight. It is now 20/-400.

So, how does Charlotte pole vault? First, she gets a little help from Ulala. Ulala is a tennis ball with a smiley face and wig attached to a spike Charlotte puts in the ground to help match her path. Ulala sits exactly at her 14th step away from the bar. She starts with her foot touching Ulala and plants the pole on her 14th step, not seeing where she is going.

When she trains, she runs on the inside lane where she can barely make out the contrast between the grass and track. Her cross country teammates wear bells on their shoes so she can follow. She even plays on the basketball team. She counts her steps and listens to the ball. Watching her play, you’d have no idea she cannot see.
Her parents never told her she could not do something. Instead, they always asked her, “HOW ARE YOU GOING TO DO IT?” …and she always came up with the answers.

Here are some more wise words from Charlotte, “I don’t think disability should be in the dictionary. That’s a dumb word. A disability is something that limits you or stops you from being able to do the things you want to do. And I don’t think anything, even if it’s vision impairment, should stop you.”

The last teeny, tiny bit of sight that Charlotte has could be gone at any moment. So, what is holding you back? What are you worried about today? Charlotte’s story sure helps put life in perspective.

How This Homeless Man “Paid It Forward” and Cashed In BIG TIME!

29 Mar

Society seems to prefer rewarding people who do “bad” things. Reality shows are filled with “stars” who don’t exactly follow the golden rule. In fact, most people have a very hard time believing something like karma can exist. Well, if you don’t believe in karma, you might after reading this incredible story. At the very least, you will know there are still some wonderful people left in the world.

Here’s the story: Billy Ray Harris was 55 and homeless. He had a regular spot on the street where he put out a cup for donations.

Sarah Darling walked by Harris and wanted to help. She reached in her change purse and put a handful of change into his cup. It wasn’t much, but every bit helps…

Later that day, Harris got on his bike to leave and dumped the change into his hand, but there was not only change. There was something else. Something shiny. A ring.

Harris didn’t think much of it. It was probably some cheap costume jewelry. Knock-offs and fakes were all over the streets, but he wasn’t sure, so he took it to be appraised.

That’s when things changed, and changed fast. The appraiser took a look at the ring and immediately offered him $4,000.00 cash. Harris was broke and tempted, but his grandfather didn’t raise a crook.

So he kept the ring and went back to his regular spot on the street and waited. It wasn’t long before Sarah appeared and Harris presented her with the ring.

Sarah said it was a tremendous loss when she thought the ring was gone. She told Harris she was eternally grateful to him. She didn’t think in a million years she would ever see that ring again.

But that’s just the beginning of the story. What happened next is nothing short of incredible…

The story of Harris giving the ring back went viral, and he became an internet sensation. Supporters started donating money to help Harris find a house to live in. In no time, $175,000.00 had been raised!

It has been said that whatever you give comes back ten-fold. Well, Harris turned down $4,000 to do the right thing and it turned into $175,000.

But it gets even better… Harris was able to get back in touch with his family that he hadn’t seen in 16 years. His younger sister saw the story about him and was able to find out where he was. After they spoke on the phone for over 90 minutes, Harris’ sister told him he could live with her. He always had a place with her.

Since then, Harris has been in touch with his three other siblings and the nieces and nephews he didn’t know he had.

Harris is now working for a Jazz band and living with a member of the band while he acquires the proper identification to open a bank account.

Here is a final “twist” to the story… Sarah Darling’s husband, Bill, is the person who launched the donation page for Harris, and they have become friends. Bill often has dinner with Harris and is helping him with his identification paperwork and getting his life straightened out.

Harris is planning a family reunion in Texas in July.

So does karma exist? That’s for you to decide. But one thing is clear. There are still wonderful people left in the world.

World Famous Brain Surgeon: “My Mother Assigned and Graded My Book Reports, and She Couldn’t Read” The fascinating story of how a poor child raised in the inner-city of Detroit became the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital at age 33. His message for you…

25 Mar

His mother married at 13.  She was one of 24 children.  He was an ethnic minority, and grew up in devastating poverty.  These are not usually the ingredients for a successful career.  If ever there was an excuse to fail, and fail miserably, Dr. Benjamin Carson had it.

But rather than of failing miserably, Dr. Carson refused to use the situation he was born into as an excuse.  Instead, he used it as motivation and became one of the most prominent physicians in the United States, not to mention the author of several books.

How did he do it?  According to Dr. Carson: Obviously, I had all the strikes against me: single parent home, dire poverty, poor self-esteem, and horrible temper.  These things tend to preclude success. And they would have in my case also, but my mother, who had only a third grade education, refused to be a victim.  That was the key.  She never felt sorry for herself.  And that was a good thing.  But there was a problem, she never felt sorry for us either!  So there was never an excuse that we could give that was good enough.  And if we gave an excuse, she would come out with a poem called, ‘Yourself To Blame.’  And after a while, we just stopped looking for excuses.  She worked 2-3 jobs at a time because she didn’t want to be on welfare.  Even though she only had a 3rd grade education, she was very observant, and she noticed that no one she saw go on welfare came off of it.  So she didn’t want to be dependant, and she didn’t want us to be dependant either, so she would work as long and as hard as was necessary.  And one of the things she observed in the homes where she worked was that people didn’t watch a lot of TV.  They spent a lot of time reading and strategizing.  So one day, she just came home and turned the TV off and said, ”You guys watch too much TV… if you improve yourself… if you improve your brain… one day people will be watching YOU on television.”  And of course, she was right about that.

That was taken from a television interview.  So yes, she was VERY right about that.  Dr. Carson talked about how much he hated reading.  So, his mother made him and his siblings each read two books from the public library and submit written book reports to her.  Dr. Carson knew his mother could not read, but she would actually mark up the book reports like she had graded them.

Dr. Carson HATED reading and doing the reports while all the other kids were outside playing.  But as he continued reading, things began to happen.  Suddenly he could spell.  He learned grammar and how to express himself.  He learned how to use his imagination rather than just observing someone else’s imagination.  Within 18 months, Dr. Carson went from the bottom of the class to the top of the class, and he began to have a much different view of himself.  The biggest key to Dr. Carson’s overwhelming success is obviously his mother’s ability to see things differently than most people, her refusal to be a victim, her capacity to never make an excuse, and her willingness to work hard and do whatever it took to succeed.

And here’s another great part of this incredible story: Dr. Carson’s mother now has her GED, college degree, and an honorary doctorate.

So what are you going to do tonight… watch TV?  

Homeless Kid Earns Spot At Harvard! Discover How A Homeless Child, Abandoned By Her Parents, Went From School Janitor To Harvard Student.

19 Mar

There were two YouTube videos that went viral not too long ago. Well… sort of…
One video got hundreds of thousands of views. Maybe even a million. The other only got about 12,000 views. The one that got so many more views was of a little kid, maybe 10 or 12 years old. The kid got an iPod for

Christmas. The kid went crazy, but not in a good way. He threw a complete tantrum because it was the wrong color. The other video was of a young woman named Dawn Loggins. Dawn was abandoned by her mother and father. They decided to take off one day to Tennessee and leave their teenage daughter in North Carolina. Most teenagers

would crumble, but not Dawn. Dawn is different. Dawn used it as motivation.
“I’m not mad at my parents. My mom and my step dad both think that they did what was best for me,” she says.

“I just realized that they have their own problems that they need to work through… They do love me; I know they love me. They just don’t show it in a way that most people would see as normal.”

Dawn got a part-time job as a janitor at her school and worked long, hard hours. She stayed at different friend’s homes and slept on couches and floors.

These couches and floors were better than the broken-down house she grew up in that no longer had running water. It is reported that Dawn often went weeks without taking a shower. She had to walk 20 minutes to a park to get water to cook with and flush the toilet. Teachers at school gave Dawn candles so she could do her homework at night.

In a typical day, she was up at 5:20 a.m. to get to school by 6:00 a.m. where she would work for 2 hours as a janitor at her high school. Then, she would go to her day of classes that includes AP (Advanced Placement) U.S. History, AP Calculus, and Honors English, along with her clubs and other activities. As soon as the school day was over, she worked as a janitor for a couple more hours. Then, she did her homework. It was not uncommon for her to be up until after 2:00 a.m..

Dawn ended up with a 3.9 GPA and scored 2,110 on the SAT. She applied to four schools in her state: University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University, Davidson College, and Warren Wilson College. Then, she decided to reach for the stars. She sent in one last application to Harvard.

Dawn was accepted to the first four in-state schools she applied to, but heard nothing from Harvard for several months. Then, the letter from Harvard came. It was a small letter. A bad sign. A very bad sign. All her other acceptances came in a huge package with the acceptance material.

I guess Harvard likes to scare their incoming freshman because the letter congratulated Dawn for being accepted to the Harvard College Class of 2016, along with a full scholarship.

When interviewed on CNN, Dawn was asked, “What is your advice to other teens?”

She replied, “I have two pieces of advice to other students. The first one is – your situations don’t define you. You can take any classes you want and you can succeed. If you try hard, you can do anything. And I encourage people in poor situations to talk to someone at school… because the school system can help.”

She also advises other students to take advantage of all the opportunities they have.

Clearly, Dawn is correct. Situations do not define you. If Dawn can succeed, anyone can… Even if you got the wrong color iPod for Christmas.
