The One Question You Should Ask Yourself Every Day Before You Do Anything…

11 Nov

Did you know there is one question you should ask yourself every day before you do anything? There is a good chance that asking yourself this question will have a dramatic effect on your life. In just a moment, I’m going to tell you what that question is. But first, let me tell you about this little brain teaser…

Not too long ago, you may have seen a commercial featuring a very well-known and wealthy sports star trying to sell an unhealthy beverage product. Since the target audience for this commercial was mostly children and young adults, one could say this sports star was in fact helping to make countless children and young adults less healthy.

When this realization was posted on the internet, many people stood up for the athlete. When pressed for a reason why they were defending him, most said it was okay because of all the money the company paid him to be in the commercial.

So, even though this sports star already makes tens of millions of dollars each year, his actions were still justifiable because he was going to make more, even if there was a potential that endorsing this product could be harmful to the public.

Which brings us to the one question you should ask yourself every day before you do anything: WHY AM I DOING THIS?

Sure, it’s simple… but it can be a very powerful question.

Are you doing whatever you are doing because it will have a positive impact on yourself and the world? Or are you doing it simply for selfish reasons that will negatively impact one or more people?

This question is not just about money. It is about every aspect of your life, even your relationships.

If you ask yourself this question today, your answer may not be virtuous. No one is perfect. But at least you will have an opportunity to be a much better person with much better relationships and have a much better QUALITY of life that no amount of money can buy.

Steak is Better For You Than Hot Dogs or Salami… and Something Actually Important.

19 Sep

Recently, an amusing headline made the rounds on the internet. The headline read, “Steak Is Better For You Than Hot Dogs Or Salami.” The article that followed concerned a study (with data collected from 37,000 men) that showed you have a greater risk for heart failure if you eat processed red meats than if you eat unprocessed red meats.

The study showed: “Men who ate roughly 2.6 oz. a day of processed red meats had a 28% higher risk of heart failure and more than two times the risk of death from heart failure compared with men who ate less than 1 oz. of processed meat daily.”

What’s amusing about this?

While the actual numbers are interesting, isn’t it amusing that there was even a question if hotdogs were better for you than steak?

Sometimes it seems as though we make life and the world over-complicated when it is actually quite simple.

For example, this month’s newsletter gives another example of a study that showed too much strenuous exercise is not good for you. Doesn’t “too much” clue people in that it is not good?

But it seems like we have a society built on excess. More is always better. Whether it is food, supplements, or working out… if a little is good… then a lot must be better!

Well, did you know if you drink the proper amount of water you will be hydrated and function optimally, but if you drink too much water you can die? It’s true.

The real key in life is moderation and simplification to achieve balance. When you have moderation and balance, you not only see the world more accurately, you become happier and healthier.

Chiropractic is a perfect example of moderation and simplification to achieve balance. The best Chiropractor will find the simplest solution to your problem that takes the least amount of treatments, and then will simply leave it and you alone.

You cannot function any better than 100%. More is not better.

Sincerely,

Dr. Binder

Stop Doing This if You Want to Be Happier and Live Longer…

21 Aug

Do you want to be happier and live longer?

That may seem like a dumb question, but if you really pay attention to the way many people conduct their lives, then you may start to wonder if the question is even dumb at all.

For example, in this month’s newsletter, we discuss the results of a new study concluding that being nagged by a spouse can increase a person’s risk of premature death. It also claims that men are slightly more at risk than women.

Now, this is not a man vs. women thing. Either way you look at it, it is not good and is totally preventable.

It seems like this all boils down to…

Stress and How
You Handle It

It is a fact, stress kills and it does not discriminate. It does not matter who or what the source is, whether it is a nagging spouse or an over-demanding job. Stress is bad for you.

Well, let’s clarify that. Your reaction to stress is bad for you.

You see, there is some stress you can decrease or even eliminate from you life. For example, if you have a pain-in-the-you-know-what friend, you can choose to have less interaction with him or her or even get rid of them completely. Yes, you can actually do that.

But other stresses are simply out of your control. No matter where you live and what you do for a living, there will always be some stress in your life.

What you can change DRASTICALLY is how you deal with stress.

There is a popular saying, “Embrace the grind.” You can also, “Embrace the stress.”

Motivational speaker Wayne Dyer is quoted as saying, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”

This is why two people can live the exact same life and one can be happy and the other miserable.

Choose to be the happy one.

A Little Secret About Walt Disney Most Do Not Know.

27 Jul

You are about to read a story about the legendary Walt Disney that holds one of the biggest secrets to living a happy life.

This story was told over a decade ago by the late Mike Vance to a group of about 1,000 people. These people were lucky because, if they really listened and paid attention, it would be darn near impossible to not improve their lives after hearing this story.

You might not know the name Mike Vance, but Mike worked side-by-side with Walt Disney for many years and was responsible for countless Disney breakthroughs.

One summer day in Los Angeles, Mike and Walt were scheduled to do some work but it happened to rain, which is pretty rare for a June day in Southern California.
So, instead of working, Mike and Walt went for a walk. Walt commented on the rain and how beautiful it looked as it balled up on the leaves of different plants. He mentioned how he loved the rain and missed it.
Then, Walt brought Mike into his house and they both peered out the window and looked at all the beauty around them. Walt turned to Mike and said, “Isn’t it wonderful that we can stand here, as adults, staring out the window, looking back at our lives and realize that all the dreams we had as children we have achieved as adults?”
There are several very powerful principles here. First, why did Walt see so much beauty in the rain and other common things others take for granted or actually complain about?

Wayne Dyer often says, “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”

This was one of Walt Disney’s biggest secrets. While most people were complaining about the rain that day, Walt was pointing out how wonderful it was, and even how he missed it.

Walt was living out his childhood dreams because he took action and went after them. He also saw the world differently. Perception is reality, and Walt’s perception was one of beauty and wonder.

So, what do you think about and how do you feel when it rains in your life?

There is always going to be rain, you cannot control that. What you can change is your reaction to it.

Dr. Brent Binder

Something You Can Do Right Now To Instantly Improve Your Life.

18 May

This might seem a little hard to believe, so let me explain by telling this quick story…

Back in the 1970s, there was a medical doctor by the name of Linus Pauling. Pauling was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1925 and the Nobel Peace Prize in 1962. He was also known as the world’s foremost vitamin C proponent.

Dr. Pauling believed high doses of vitamin C could prevent and cure many diseases. He also believed intravenous vitamin C could cure cancer.

Dr. Pauling was labeled a quack by many of his peers in mainstream medicine for these beliefs, which were very radical at the time.

Well, the BBC News recently reported that “High-dose vitamin C can boost the cancer-killing effect of chemotherapy in the lab and mice, research suggests. Given by injection, it could potentially be a safe, effective and low-cost treatment for ovarian and other cancers, say U.S. scientists. Reporting in Science Translational Medicine, they call for large-scale government clinical trials. Pharmaceutical companies are unlikely to run trials, as vitamins cannot be patented.”

The same article later states, “Scientists at the University of Kansas say that, when given by injection, vitamin C is absorbed into the body, and can kill cancer cells without harming normal ones.”

Does this prove that Dr. Pauling was right and vitamin C injection will cure cancer? No, not even close. But it does prove something very important: Always keep an open mind, especially when something is very different than what you are used to or goes against what you currently believe.

The same goes for how you choose your doctors.

The best part about many modern healthcare professionals is that most are open-minded. Most understand that their way is not necessarily the only or the best way and all patients are different and have different wants and needs. With that mindset, they are able to work together with other healthcare professionals to achieve what’s best and wanted by you, the patient.

Watching your back,

Dr. Brent Binder

PS: You may not be aware that I recently wrote “The Herb & Mineral Handbook” that is being sold at local stores. Well, all patients of our practice can receive a free paperback copy just by coming in to the office. So the next time you stop by for a tune-up just mention that you’d like your free copy. Incidentally, there’s a neat section on vitamin C that I’d love for you to read.

This Might Make You Happy.

27 Apr

Do you want to be happy? If you do, it really is quite simple. Allow me to explain with the help of this quick story…

Many years ago there was a very lonely man. He did not have many friends and did almost everything alone.

One day while eating, he saw the owner of the restaurant carry in a huge pile of mail. It was the holiday season and he watched as the restaurant owner opened at least 100 holiday cards!

The lonely man was astonished and told the restaurant owner that he did not get any holiday cards. Not one.

The restaurant owner’s reply was simple… “How many do you send out?”

“Well… none. Why would I? No one sends any to me.”

The restaurant owner smiled and said how he ALWAYS sends his out the first week in November. That way, everyone he sends one to has plenty of time to send one back and almost everyone he sends one to sends one in return.

Now, I’m not sure if the lonely man learned anything from this story, but I sure did. I learned that the secret to getting what you want is to first give other people what they want.

If you want to receive holiday cards, you should send out holiday cards FIRST.

If you want good people in your life, you should be a good person FIRST.

If you want people to help you, you should help them FIRST.

Always try to improve other people’s lives. That is the way to improve yours.

And if you want to be happy, go make someone else happy.

If you put your own self-interest aside and help people get what they want and help them be happy, if they are a good person, then they will help you get what you want and help you be happy too.
